PPS Community Hub

Primbee Public School is proud to partner with Community Hubs Australia to provide access to engaging opportunities for our school community. Our hub was established in 2024 and is led by the wonderful Helen Grdic. Our hub welcomes all members of the community including parents and carers of children enrolled at PPS as well as members of the wider community.

About Community Hubs

Community hubs build social cohesion in Australia. They are welcoming places where families from diverse backgrounds, particularly mothers with preschool children, come to connect, share and learn.

The National Community Hubs Program (NCHP) model is a proven place-based and people-centred way of building connections and social and economic capital within culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Hubs are embedded in primary schools and help bridge the gap between families and the wider community. They connect families with each other, with their school, and with local services and support.

What the PPS Community Hub offers

Playgroup

Join us for a fun, free and welcoming playgroup for families with young children (0–5 years). It’s a chance for children to play, learn and make friends, while parents and carers relax, connect and share together. Playgroup runs weekly during school term. Everyone is welcome, come along and be part of our friendly community!

Beginning English Class

Learn basic English conversation and writing skills in a relaxed and supportive setting. Classes also include practical activities like sewing and cooking. Sessions are led by a fully qualified English teacher.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to give back, connect with others, and be part of our community. Opportunities include helping in the garden, covering books, and supporting school programs. Everyone is welcome, your time and skills make a difference!

Multicultural Swimming Adults

Join our free 10-week program for adults from a multicultural background, with 30-minute classes designed for complete beginners through to those with basic swimming skills. Come and learn in a supportive environment, enjoy our wonderful waterways, and build water safety and confidence.

Harmony Day Quilting Project

Join our quilting group in the hub each Friday morning from 9-11am.

The quilt is part of a school project that aims to celebrate the cultural diversity within the wider Primbee Community.

It will represent the key features of the community and all members are welcome.
